I dropped my BB Torch 9800 down the toilet and I left it in a bag of rice overnight to dry out, in the morning I turned it on and everything was fine, the only thing not working was the trackball but that doesnt bother me. I looked at the signal strength and everything was fine (it was showing GSM with 3 bars and the carrier 'Vodafone UK' was showing). However, after 5 minutes the signal switches to SOS and the carrier does no show up. It stays on SOS for ever unless I reboot and start again but it goes in a loop. How do I stop it from changing to SOS?

P.S - I have tried this with two different SIM cards at it is happening with both.
It usually takes more than one night to dry out the electronics in a wet phone and there is no guarantee that it will work afterwards. It sounds like your phone is done. Sorry.
