Ok so I plan to upgrade my phone to .337 and I know that the desktop software backs everything up but when I upgrade can I just easily just put all my contacts and photos back on withought any problems.

Load the OS, turn on your radio so the device reregisters, then do a couple battery pulls then use the desktop manager to reload your backup. As long as you do a full backup all settings and contacts will be repaired.
Not trying to hijack your thread, but is it wise to restore a backup from a non-hybrid to a hybrid os?
I regularly go from non hybrid to hybrid and I use the same backup every time with 0 issues.
Your radio is what controls your mobile network. When you first upgrade an OS you'll notice that you will have no network connections. Simply go to manage connections and turn your mobile network option back on.
A DM backup is all you need. Of course you could sync it with outlook or an email address. I never have so I can't say as to how one would go about doing this.
Will this back up all 3rd party apps, too?
Thanks!
No, third party apps need to be backed up via another source, such as BBSAK or BMCP(blackberry master control program). If you read some of the posts in the blackberry 101 section all this is explained in better detail.
