I managed to unlock the themes on my 8820, but I lost BBmaps and all my email icons (email setup and the 2 personal emails I had setup)

what have I done ??? ( i deleted the vendor file)

Is there anyway to get it back to it's default original state (hard reset) or anything if need be ?

got the icons and everything back by logging onto my BIS and sending the service books again.

    Still no BBmaps though

    Dear All,

I've tried pretty much everything possible, but I wasn't able to find the blackberry.axl file.

I am a TIM Brasil costumer using a 8300 and my laptop runs Vista Business

I downloaded the OS from Blackberry's site, I did run it and installed it along with Desktop Manager but even now I can't find the right path.

On my computer I went to :

    Computer
    Local Disk C
    Program Files
    Common Files
    Research in Motion

Once there the only folders are:
    AppLoader
    Modem Drivers
    RIM Device Manager
    USB Drivers

I've opened each one, but no sign of the Shared/Loader Files described on this post.

Please let me know if I am doing something wrong and advise !

Thanks a lot and Greetings from Brasil!

I have the same problem... no blackberry.axl file.

I can't even find it using the Windows system search.

    chhyeeaa,
Probably you are committing the same mistake I was making.

At BB's download page for your service provider:

you are going to find both the Desktop Software 4.2

    and

BlackBerry Curve 8300(TM) >>> That's the file you should download.

After you load it to your computer you would be able to find the folders described on this thread.

    Good Luck!

Is anyone else having difficulty saving the new files? It asks me if I want to save and when I click on yes it tells me that I cannot that blackberry.alx already exists. Then it asks if I want to replace it and when I click on yes it does not allow me.

Is there a safer way to acquire the same unlocked themes without actually have to risk ruining the stock set up of the 8310?

    Hi,

I'm currently using Verizon 8830 and really like the AT&T Theme. However now that I applied the AT&T theme I see the AT&T logo at the very top. How can I remove it since I'm using Verizon

    Thank you

I downloaded the device operating system but the version numbers are slightly different:

    8830EFS_PBr4.2.2_rel339_PL3.0.0.79_A4.2.2.176.exe

    Mine are:

    Platform Version Number 3.0.0.67
    Application Version Number 4.2.2.148 (271)

I can't even find the Release Package Number.

Is that an issue? Should I upgrade my phone's software and if so, how?

If you are not having any problems or if you don't need some feature that is added by an OS upgrade I'd say don't bother. "If it aint broke...don't fix it" is the phrase of the day here.

However, that is the latest OS for the Verizon 8830 just released a few days ago.

has anyone tried this on the new Desktop Manager v4.3? I'm running that on Vista and the subfolders aren't the same as previous versions. I was able to unlock the vendor themes on the previous version but when i upgrades to Vista, I needed to update the DM to v4.3 because the previous version wouldnt work on Vista.

On vista i've searched for blackberry.alx file and it doesnt exist. I dont understand where it is and what to do.

    anyone???

If you copy and paste this very carefully it will work for you.... It goes from AT&T down to the top of Verizon... Be careful...

(This is provided you have AT&T as a carrier)

    This should work out best.

Maybe there should be a companion list as to what Vendor ID belongs to which Carrier. It's safe to assume that 102 is for AT&T/Cingular, lol.

I'm doing the OS upgrade and the unlocking of the themes right now. I'll let you guys know how it works out.

quick question. I went into the blackberry.alx file down to the t-mobile section (mainly because I like them) and put my vendor ID in but only got the T-Mobile UK version. How do I get the US version (I prefer the yellow over the pink I have now). Also doubt it but is there a way to change that colour?
