I just made a website for all of my new themes and need some help hosting OTA. I found this on another BlackBerry Forums website and I need an easier step by step guide. I'm LOST!

    OTA How-To

I know this isn't the easiest thing to figure out, so I figured I'd put up a little HowTo on getting your JAD files accessible OTA (Over The Air).

What you need to do is edit the .htaccess file in the folder you are storing the JAR, JAD, and COD files in on your server. You'll need to include these 3 lines in it:

    AddType text/vnd.sun.j2me.app-descriptor jad
    AddType application/java-archive jar
    AddType application/vnd.rim.cod cod

Then don't forget to put the JAD, and COD files on the server (I added the ALX and JAR files too, but you only really need the JAD and COD files for OTA installs).

My host is running Linux. If you are on a windows server I suspect that it works a bit differently, but I don't know for certain. If someone knows please share with the group.

I then just made a really basic index.html (index.html.txt Sorry had to add the .txt) file in the above directory that had a text link to the JAD file. Then when you click on the link it pops up with the standard install dialog.

    I hope this helps.

Depending on how you are managing the web site.... you need to go to the folder you are storing your cod/jar/jad files in, locate the file .htaccess, open it in notepad or a text editor, add those 3 lines that are in the instructions. I can't give you much more specific instructions without know more about how you are managing your web site.

Erm okay you are going about this wrong. On the server that you are storing the cod/jad/jar files, there will be a .htaccess file. You need to open the .htaccess file. This has nothing to do with opening the cod/jar/jad files.
