I know alot of you have tonnes of themes on your phone, but i always have troubles with finding the perfect theme, so i want to find out what you all like and dont like (features wise) about themes.

    2 simple quesitons:

what do you hate about blackberry themes?

what do you love about blackberry themes?

    i'll start:
what do you hate about blackberry themes?
    -some lag incredibly
-themes that just change the pictures in them
    -bad navigation

what do you love about blackberry themes?
    -transitions
    -hidden today screen

    Dislike:
    Crappy looking icons
    Some lag
    Memory footprint
    Weather slots
    Transitions
    Hidden anything
    Makes changing wallpaper pointless

    Like:
Any theme that has no icons on the homescreen.

I have one theme (Reverie D) and have no need or desire
    to look for anything else.

This is my home screen. I don't want or need crap in the way of it.
No weather slots, nothing that pop up or slide out, no icons. I want as
little as possible getting in the way of what I choose for wallpaper.

If it were possible, I'd want someone to create a theme that is truly blank.
Nothing at all, no date, time, notification icons. meters. Nothing.

That is what I mean by pointless. All non blank themes in one way
or another take away from the wallpaper.

Ya, I don't find complicated themes to be practical, lots of things get in the way. But I would at least 4 icons on home screen. None feels kinda weird and too many is just too many.

Few icons works for me. I do like a weather icon and use ReverieDW for that reason. The icon is very small and in the upper right corner. Otherwise my wallpapers are on display. That is one reason to own a BB. We can make the screen look the way we wish.

    Well thought out themes.
    Custom icons.
    Clean screens.
    Matching font throughout the theme.

    Dislike:

    Lag
    Huge themes
    Fonts that don't match
Icons that are a hodge podge of everything, including stock Precision
Busy themes - App screen wallpaper is so busy that you cannot see the icons
    Hidden Today
    Hidden Dock

    On the fence about:

    Transitions
Default Precision icons - like em, but not for every single theme

Oh, and a completely blank theme can be made. The only thing that I think would show is the bullseye icon whose name escapes me. Even if you used the alarm, you could just make a blank icon for it, so that when you had it enabled, it still would be blank.

I've only actually downloaded one theme, but here's my thoughts.

    Like:

Minimal stuff on the screen, I like my wallpapers to show too.

Enough icons on the home screen to hold all my often used stuff, six does pretty well for me, personally. I could probably do with seven, then I could have Pandora there too lol.

    Dislike: Much more here lol.

Icons that slide out of the way (I expected "docked" to mean the icons stayed put but I guess that wasn't the case lol).

Shaded/black bars over the wallpaper on the top and bottom (like the default Precision theme, that is literally the only thing I dislike about it. I've yet see a custom theme I like better).

Large icons for anything, be it weather or battery charge or whatever. Too much clutter and if it's got a large icon only on one side, it looks visually unbalanced to me. If it's the middle it's just blocking the wallpaper lol.

Oh, you are the MAN!! Do that and I will be the first in line.
I loved the Real Icon theme on my Bold so I know the quality
    of your work.

P.S While you're at it, is there anyway to get a date to display
"properly?" 25 January as opposed to January 25.

I don't think that there is any way to change the date display that I know of.

Dislike: Themes that have a lot of flash but no functionality beyond the icons displayed. Themes that are huge downloads, I see no need for 1+mb downloads. Laggy themes last about 5 minutes on my phone. Themes that the font and icons are so miniscule they are hard to see.
Like: Themes that make use of what is displayed on the screen (ie signal meter- manage connections). Quicklaunch hot key support is a must. I live by this app. Themes I can show at work. No need for T and A here.
PS If I wanted an iPhone I would have bought one.

There are three indicators that Theme Builder does not allow you to change or remove from the homescreen; GPS, Bluetooth, and WiFi (the black & white icon). However they are only visible when these features are turned on. Everything else can be removed simply by unmarking a check box in Theme Builder.

    Love:
-Small memory footprint (stock precision icons are OK with me)
    -Fast, fast, fast
    -Clean, elegant design
-Hidden Today (I use this feature all the time)
    -Spacebar QuickLaunch
    -Home Screen hotspots
-Big, Bold Legible Text on incoming/outgoing/in-process call screens

    Hate:
    -Cluttered screen
-Lag (I'm not a fan of transitions - they look pretty, but make things slow)
-Today fonts that are too small

BB has really enhanced my productivity and effectiveness, anything that enhances that further is a good-goods for me personally.

Simple - EASY to read time / date (doesn't blend in to the homescreen)

easy to read - clear icons
incoming call screen that you can actually read.

I forgot one huge annoyance, for me at least.

Inability to make changes globally. That is if I organize one theme the
way I like I want all the others to follow that setup.

One of the reasons I don't do themes is I have to set them up individually.
With 54 apps, that is a giant PITA.

thats more of an OS issue, us theme devs unfortunately cannot do anything about that

Fair enough and it was not meant to disparage the work you guys do.
Lord knows I cannot. And considering a lot of you do it for free
or at a minimal cost, I have all the respect in the world for you all.

    It is still annoying though
