I was reading today on engadget about all the new touch screen devices and how flash will be on many mobile son's except for Apple and BBs. I think the storm us a good but not great device and I think that while BBs have mail down, they are lacking in other features which consumers will grow to expect - mainly a great browsing and multimedia experience. I'm wondering if you think you'll purchase the next gen of storm when it comes out or if you think you will have jumped ship to another device or os. I'm guessing this will be the case for me.

    what "innovations?"

touch screens have been done before-Apple had 2 editions of their iphone, the LG dare was out, as well as the voyager

I dont see anything on the storm that is significantly better than anything that was/will be out there..thats just my opinion.

im gonna be honest, 2 years from now, they will probably have a Storm #2 and they will probably have other great phones, i might decide to mix it up being that the storm was my first Blackberry. So i might go for a BB with a keyboard unless something else comes out, maybe the next generation iphone when it comes to verizon. It all depends what suites my needs. I like BB and i do agree that there are certain things lacking, but the push e-mail and the UI is something i can't get over.

I am a big fan of the iphone because i also have a mac, but the mix between its not on the VZW network and certain things that it lacks is what held me back from switching over to AT&T for it.

But who knows, it all depends what is there 2 years from now.

Not a huge fan of WinMo (I dunno why, stubbornness I guess?)
Not a huge fan of Palm (yeah, WebOS/Pre could save it. Still shaky ground with Apple looking to squeeze them out of the picture)

If Apple brings their product to VZW, sure, I can go that route.

If not, I like what RIM has done and wouldn't mind continuing. I expect they will continue to improve the browsing experience. And if not, I would hope Opera/Bolt would fill the gap there. I don't mind the multimedia experience all that much as I intend to continue owning an iPod anyway. Of course, if RIM were to significantly enhance the multimedia experience while engineering a battery that was virtually depletion-proof no matter what kind of use you put it through in a 24 hour window, that iPod could be chucked.

One thing's for certain, there's no returning to "dumbphones".
