just additional protection...once the factory ones wear out
i just use the factory one for now
it does get a lot of scratches though
This is just stupid.
Why even attempt to ruin a good phone? Verizon is being nice and replacing our units free of charge and here we are trying to screw them over just for our own curiosity.
P.S. Some people have been able to scratch their screens with nothing more then some change in their pockets. Screen protectors are good for having that piece of mind.
I didnt try to ruin the phone!! i simply tried putting a little tiny scratch in the very corner of the screen and wasnt able to.
i want proof on the change theory...
because my iPhone was in and out of the worse conditions in a pocket over 1.5 years and its bright and shiny new just like it was on day one..
change, keys, everything that could be stuck in a pocket with it was in there not a single scratch..
and I am experiencing the same exact thing with the glass screen on the storm...
there is certain things that may do it.. sand would be something to mention..
sand does wicked things to glass.. and again use a diamond...
but I doubt it was change in the pocket that did it.
I guess ruin is in the eye of the beholder. If I got a replacement from Verizon that happened to be subject to a screen test and had a small scratch on the corner of the screen I would be kind of mad. ;)
Yeah a lot of people didn't believe him either but he posted some pics. I will try to find it but this was like 2 weeks ago. It wasn't huge dug in scratches it was just like a little tiny sliver but you could clearly see it.
i dont buy it dude!! when you get my old storm in the mail, you'll be surprised to see the screen is perfectly clear.
Well yeah, but just think if the screen did scratch. Then some poor person would end up getting a scratched replacement, or RIM would replace the scratched screen with a new one thus raising costs which in turn raises purchase prices. I know it may not seem like that big of a deal and since it didn't scratch everyone wins, but it could have easily gone the other way and you would have screwed somebody over.
I guess we just see things differently though nothing wrong with that.
I managed to get a scratch in mine today. I'm still not 100% sure how I did it, but there is a chunk missing from my BlackBerry logo rigt below the earpiece and a scratch about an inch long down from there. It was in my pocket by itself all day, I had sitting on the floor next to me for a bit but I don't recall it coming into contact with anything. Obviously it did, because there is a big gash, but it proves that it will scratch.
Last I checked we were discussing the SCREEN - and that's not part of it...
Agree on everything. Why TRY to ruin something on purpose, just because you are no longer going to be the owner? I'd hate to see your rental cars after you check them back in. I hope someone pulls this crap and gets charged full retail for the phone. Just ridiculous....
He would be the one who felt he got screwed over when he receives an equipment charge of $499 to his bill for returning a physically damaged phone. So many people are doing this scratch test and for the life of me I can't even imagine why.
The devices are being replaced (for legitimate reasons), at no charge, which is exactly what should be done. But afterward people aren't taking care of the first device because they figure that their not keep any way, so who cares. I wouldn't be surprised to see a rush of threads within the next couple of months with people saying they got billed for their replacements. What will be even more fun, if they are honest, is listening to reasons on why they think they were charged and how it was unwarranted.
I know that I am going to have to replace my device for software related issues, but I also know until I get to that point, I have to protect my phone from damages whether intended or not. I would suggest that other people do the same.
Why would you get it replaced for software issues? I think so many are returning because of this it will ultimately cost us all in the future. I just don't get it!
If you'd read my post, I said there is a chip out of the BB logo, which is RIGHT ABOVE THE SCREEN, and it extends an inch downward from there.
I've posted this in another threat, but I'll post it again here:
Get Invisible Shield. I've used it on all my blackberries, GPSs, and digital cameras. It's the best thing out there.
