The leaks are just interim builds that get out on the web by purpose or by mistake and someone see's them and we try them out.
They are attempts to get closer to a release build. Once RIM/Blackberry gets one that is up to their idea of quality it will be an official release. Then we will test it and start complaining about what things do not work in it. Or maybe it will all work and we will just ask for new features.
You can guarantee that we will not be satisfied with it enough to live with it for the next 10 years.
i think the OP is referring to memory leaks.
correct!!!!
Lol at second post.

iam shocked that all these people complain about leaks but dont really know anything about it??
Heres a great misunderstanding: there are two leaks: the first is the so-called "memory leak". An issue of the current OSes that the app-memory runs empty and the OS crashs; known as "Verizon Screen Of Death". The second leak are LEAKED OSes, in this forum called LEAK. They were leaked to fight the memory leak. Funny, isnt it?!
and still they don't understand...
civic has a good post on the subject somewhere on the forum where its explained in laymans terms. The memory leak issue that is.
at least... I think it was civic. Or maybe CX or sith.... ;)
Pull your battery daily and quit complaining.
WHY SHOULD I HAVE TO??????? and you dont have to with any other phone so why do i have to do it with this one???
I don't think battery pull would make the memory leak become better. I hope RIM would fixed the problem on next official OS.

What was so funny. I thought the OP was talking about OS leaks also.
I seem to recall people saying that battery pulls are generally a way of life with WinMo phones as well. Maybe even more so than BBs.
Feature phones don't count, because they are pretty limited in what they can do... And you can bet if Apple didn't make it impossible to do a battery pull on the Jesus Phone, people would be doing it there too.
Then you misread it, just like the other person did.

Wrong on that first part. The VSOD has absolutely nothing to do with memory leaks.

no it is not "unfixable" but if you expect the memory load to be constant then that is an unrealistic expectation. different betas have done better jobs than others at using and freeing memory. what you are seeing is an issue where background core apps are using memory and not freeing it after use resulting in a drain. the fact that some of the betas are doing better than others is an indication that they ARE working on it...
many palm devices, windows mobile devices and lots of feature phones have similar problems resulting in a need to occasionally reboot.... i wager that from time to time you reboot your computer.... your phone is a small sophisticated computer but should not have to be rebooted as frequently as we currently have to.... be patient.... it WILL get better.
We all would have had a clearer understanding if the OP was not one long run on sentence.
When someone talks about leaks, betas and updates in one poorly constructed sentence, you have to expect miscommunication.
Why should people have to pull their batteries 2-3 times a day
But you didnt help clarify it; just laughed.
I agree.
My bad. I read ^.
Most of the threads I read are about leaked OS's. Also the fact that I havent read any memory leak threads in a long time- so my mind didnt go there.
are you smoking crack???? lol!!! well i guess we all cant be smart like you!! thank you god!!
I am still baffled as to why everyone is so hung up on this app memory number. Why is it so important? Does anyone even really know what it actually means and what it does? Your memory will fluctuate constantly. As long as the phone works and does what you ask what does it matter what that number says? Like Blackwell said, it's like any computer. Memory gets used and freed randomly as the phone operates.
Unless the File Free memory decreases to the point where your BlackBerry starts deleting messages and files, why worry about it?
;)
Because i dont want it to get to that point. I do more than one battery pull daily. Look at my sig for what im running. I usually do 2 a day. While its not a complete hassle for me, it still bothersome.
If u do not like leaks that occur with beta OS, wait for you carrier to release a stable one.
