and have you sent the old one back?
if you didnt send the old one back did they charge you for it?
I got one yesterday. I am sending back the old one today.
They WILL charge you if you do not return it. (Asurion - the insurance company - not Verizon).
You only have to send back the phone shell. You can keep the battery & accessories. They don't want those back - it says so on the mailing envelope.
ive delt with both asurion and verizon on replacement phones before, but that was with older phones (700wx) i know if for some reason i forgot to send the phone back to verizion they just wouldnt charge me. asurion is a given that they would.
i would nevergo through asurion unless its wet or stollen. all other problems i go through verizion since they dont charge you a replacement fee
I ordered a replacement and it came the next day. The last thing they said on the phone call was to make sure the old was returned or else they would charge the full price automatically on the account. I returned the old phone the same day I received the replacement. I've monitored the account online and never saw any charges so that part is good. But then the other day a check shows up in the mail from Verizon for $214 and change. As if they were refunding the price I paid for the original phone! Needless to say, holding onto the check to see exactly what the next bill says...
Never heard of VZ or any company providing a check. They either refund back on to your credit card, put the amount on to your account as credit or a gift card/debit card.
I got my replacement last night. It looks good - I mean the phone looks brand new although it did come in the brown box. I haven't had a chance to port over yet.
Should I do the phone number port first and then run my backup? Do I need to do 'restore' or use the option to transfer data from 1 blackberry to the other?
Also, I noticed that I didn't see icons for BB Maps or the App Center on my new phone. Should those show up once I restore or port the phone number?
I got 2 replacements on my one complaint. I just picked the one I liked the best and then sent 2 phones back.
Anybody who has done this care to let me know how the process went for them?
I sent the old one back and it took 3 weeks to get the temp charge of $200 off my account.
If you don't send the old one back, they will not only keep the temp charge of $200 on your account but charge you FULL RETAIL. Don't be stupid and return the old phone.
Why would you not send the old one back?
First think that comes to mind is, it doesn't belong to you. Secondly I assume you got the replacement for a reason, some sort of defect, so why keep it.
So lets say you don't return it and they don't charge you. Someone will have to pay for it, someone always pays. Like me and everyone else here in the form of higher service rates.
Just do us all a favor and return what does not belong to you, Please!
My replacement request arrived via 2 day air. However...I put things off until the last minute and am a huuuuuge procrastinator. You have 10 days to send the old phone back or they charge you $599.
I sent mine back 4 weeks later and they still hadn't put anything on my VzW bill OR debit card. From what I read...it looks like that never happens.
They will eventually charge you if you don't send the phone back. I got a replacement from verizon. I took over 2 weeks to send it back. However things happened nothing like how they told me it was going to.
I was told by the csr that my account would be charged immediately for the replacement phone, and then after I returned the original phone, then they would credit my account, I wasn't given a time frame to return the replacement phone though.
Well this is what actually happened. I didn't send the phone back for weeks, and I was never charged for it during that time. Then, some time after I sent the phone back, (second billing cycle after receiving the replacement) I got an e-mail from verizon, that they were sending me a check for the amount of the replacement phone, granted that I still had not even been charged for the replacement. So after about a week I got the check in the mail. Then a few days after that, low and behold, they finally then charged me for the replacement phone. So I deposited the check and paid for what they charged me.
thanks for all the responces.
however i am not even reciving a replacement since my phone is running perfectly.
it seems like many people have ahad many different experiances with verizon.
my privious experiances were that they havent charged me when forgot to send my 700wx back(realizing the box was acidently left home under a pile of crap).
Verizon has always told me they "may" chage me if it doesnt go back and i just always assumed that "may" was bassed on a client bassis and since the business account brinmgs them a bill of $250 a month they didnt car if they dont recive a busted phone that they would spend another 50 - 100 referbishing just to give that one away as a replacement
I am on my third one already first one did not last till thanksgiving (3 days) and the second one is giving errors and the audio is muffled...
i got a replacement storm and it is AWESOME!
I got a replacement. It works better then my first phone did. To not send the defective phone back and wind up paying $499 for a device I originally only paid $150 for after the mail-in-rebate? Outrageous.
Here's my reccomendation.
1. Backup old phone
2. Transfer service over to new phone
3. Use device transfer option on Desktop Manager.
4. You're all set.
Your BB Maps and App center will show up once the phone is provisioned.
Verizion is natorius for not charging people if the phone doesnt get back to them. i guess the argument would be that it "got lost in the mail"
How does that excuse work when they provide a return shipping label complete with tracking number???
i dont know ive never used it. i just know back when i was using my 700wx i forgot to send one back i just misplaced it and forgot about it and i never got charge.
i then talked to friends and looked on forums and heard from others that they havent been charged. but ofcourse this is for a 4 year old device
