Hey people. just got my storm like... last week. and joined the forums.. Ive owned blackberrys in the past ( a few Old school ones) big as ****, lol... i love my storm. but was some sweet apps on it and maybe a few more games..
any suggestions... and for OS.. what are people running and what are you happy with... problems with the os's and what not
As far as free apps that didn't come with the Storm:
AP Mobile News
Bolt Browser
Poynt
Opera Mini 4.2 (still not sure about this vs. Bolt)
Slacker Radio
MaraTick
WeatherBug (not sure about this vs. BBWeather)
Google Maps
Tiltris
i was nervous about all the negative things that could happen with the beta OS upgrading process, but in the upgrade forum there's a sticky that pretty much makes it fool proof.
as far as perks go, IMO .109 is a good bit more stable than .75, also a huge leap in fluidity, random reboots are a thing of the past (knock on wood), it's all around quicker, typing also is improved, it's worth it to upgrade to see if you like it.
Viigo (by far my favorite)
Slacker Radio (a must have if you like music)
Opera Mini
ESPN Mobile Web (Launcher)
Mobipocket Reader
Poynt
QuickPull
Weatherbug

if i upgrade.. will i lose everything on my device?
no, you won't, though you should backup your device using your DM before the install, because you may need to restore all of your information after the install, which is not uncommon, i was able to do it with no problems, if you give it a shot you can PM me with problems or questions, i'm always in and out of here.
Weatherbug is pretty mint. It will display the current weather in a separate Icon, it will give you the weather for your location (you need GPS on), alert you for NWS advisories, and even give time lapse photos from the weather station you are subscribing to. And it's FREE!
I also have the latest version of Google Maps (I believe it's 3.0.2) with Latitude.
That site was really helpful Alan, thanks! Also, I love your quote at the bottom. I was going to use the same one, but then I saw you had it already haha!
I just downloaded Slacker and Quickpull. I also use Flycast and like that because it has more selection for music and has live radio stations as well. I think it is a better alternative personally.
I like Slacker becasue it offers a varity of music so I can choose a channel (alternative 80's) and hear music I may not have in my collection (the Rave Ups)
Viigo is good because it gives me various news feeds (including CrackBerry Blogs) & now has added Hockey support
Vlingo, is great because I can text and drive by speaking. We all know that texing while driving with a regular phone is dangerous, but with a touch screen sans physical keyboard it is doubly so.
