This makes no sense. Why can't the moderators explain what they are doing? Is it really that difficult?
I doubt it's an issue with CX's NDA -- he is very careful and knowledgable about the limits of his NDA. Plus, never before have his teaser posts been deleted.
Mods: Why can't you just lock the thread and put an explanation as to why it is locked.
I'll tell you what... if the reason the thread was pulled was because of someone flaming CX for him GIVING US INFO the mods need to leave it up so we can can b i t c h slap those responsible.
not yet, but keep em in mind when posting and it will become habit.
I know I know... just kidding around... there is so much junk in some of the other threads and they don't get killed... but besides the flaming, there might have been a piece or two of information in this one... sad
The new 2009 resolutions (read: directives) just came out today. And already the moderating hammers have fallen. How can you possibly reconcile this with: "We *could* put down the moderation hammer and clean things up, but honestly, that's the last thing I'd ever want to see happen here and it would be worse on the forum as a whole," which is taken directly from the resolution itself.
How can you expect an entire community of people to read, interpret, ingest, and institute the new policies in a matter of hours? So, instead, the moderators choose to delete one of the most important ongoing thread topics (i.e., new OS's) instead of trying to honor the resolution's own directive -- self-moderation.
This is bogus. The censorship is ridiculous. Punish individuals, not the community. If you're not willing to try, then why should we? It could have been as easy as putting in a couple warnings, or instituting temporary bans.
could someone care to explain what the thread was even about?
hahaha...i know this other forum that can either delete whole threads or just lock them so no one can edit/post. woulda been fun if it was just locked instead so we know what the heck happened.
