    1xev indicates that you are connected to a tower that has 3G coverage but you haven't established a connection with the Blackberry Servers.

    This post 1x 1X 1xEV 1XEV differences should provide more details

    that vzw page doesn't show what a lower case "ev" means. But I believe that BlackObsidian is right. Your not connected the the bberry servers.

    yea, you're right, i checked my manual. you can still access data, sms, mms, as well as phone calls just not connected to the bb servers. good on ya obsidian.
