Unfortunately once the phone is sold via 3rd party, VZW steps out, as they can't attest to what happened to the phone in the time that it was inactive. I've had customers with the same issue.
As to random reboots, it seems to be a part of the OS as there are still bugs. Do you notice if it says App Error or Device Error before the reboot? Also, how often is it occuring.
The random reboots happen at least once a day and it can be when I am on the phone or when it is just chilling on my desk!
Sounds about right. It happens. Are you still running .75? The other thing you can try is calling tech support direct and speaking to a tech. There is a chance they will not ask you about where/when you purchased it. They can look into the MEID's history and see where else it was active before, but it's worth a shot if you want. I did it with an old WinMo device. You'll get a refurb though. And don't do it within 30 days or they'll try to refer you to a store or such for a new one.
Vzw won't help you unless you bought it from them - Understandably so. Would you go to Target and ask for their help on a product you bought from Walmart?

Upgrade to .109 if you bought the phone off ebay your best to wipe it with jl cmdr and reload the os

Like others, I would suggest upgrading the SW if you feel comfortable doing so.

When I bought my treo off ebay, vzw gave me support and even a replacement when there software update was faulty. In fact, when the replacement still was faulty, they even gave a brand new one at a corporate store. Call them and play nice, it worked for me.

yea thats where i suggested talking to tech support directly, they're not supposed to cover any 3rd party sales. Only agents and direct stores. you'll get ones from time to time that dont look too deeply and just do it. just realize it's a refurb usually.

Either go to Options>Security>General>BB Menu>Wipe Handheld or use the jl cmdr software mentioned above.

i got .109 and mine doesnt do it. sometimes on .75 though.
actually, VZW can still assist with troubleshooting since they are the exlusive U.S. carrier. As long as you're a customer, have the Storm on your account, and aren't asking anything aside from normal tech support stuff, of course...
what they CANT and WONT do, however, is replace it if the phone is defective. Insurance won't even replace it.
If it's defective, the seller is legally obligated to issue a refund... However that's only if the hardware is defective.
Do these phones not have a warranty covered by RIM? I know when I did customer service we would refer the customer to the manufacturer if they had acquired the device from a 3rd party as often times the manufacturer had a warranty as well.

The phones do have a warranty through RIM your best bet is to contact them directly. You can grab their number of the RIM website.
Unfortunatley getting VZW to replace a 3rd party Storm is like trying to get them to insure a 2 month old Razr
