I had been using .90 for quite some time and then tried .99

With .99 I was having a lot of issues with lagging when selecting items or switching from portrait to landscape. Perhaps the most telling thing for me was the memory always was in the low 20's. I had .99 on the phone for about 4 days. I did several batt pulls and the memory never really changed. Always the low 20's. Furthermore the battery was definitely draining at a faster rate.

I decided to put .90 back mostly because I really wanted the large KB fonts again. What really amazed me is that I've had .90 on the phone now for 3 days and the memory has never dipped below the 40's, and everything seems to be much smoother again. The battery stamina seems to be back again.

Now, remember that these are just my observations. Of course YMMV....

I just believe that there is something in .99 that really chews up memory. If it is some resident process going on then it is also going to chew up battery faster

This is why I did the hybrid .90/.99 install and I have the benifits of .99 (stability) with the speed, battery life and larger fonts of .90. I followed the directions from the 'how use radio code one os build in another" thread in the blackberry tips section of crackberry and I am very happy with the results.

    Give it a shot!

I never even bothered with .99. I still get plenty out of .90, plus I can keep my bigger keyboard, and I dont get random freezes. I just make sure not to leave BBM open if im not typing or reading messages. Sticking with .90 until the next one.
