Tour owner...until tomorrow!
- Well I guess my wife and I will still technically be Tour Owners tomorrow but we will also be Storm 2 Owners!! I came from palm (TreoW then P then Centro) and the Tour was our first Blackberry. Coming from palm we did miss the touchscreen but I felt that the new palm lineup was something that will fizzle as Blackberry Apple and Google press on. I was apprehensive about the Storm 1 knowing that it was RIM's first step into a touchscreen device which is why we chose the Tour to begin with. Well when the Storm 2 came out I got an itch that continued to nag at me and on a road trip this weekend and with nothing but time I got ahold of Verizon customer service. I did not gripe and moan and threaten to cancel, just explained that it was time for a Storm 2 and I was willing to work with them but we had to make it happen. At the end of all things I had only had our tours for 7 mos so I agreed to pay 269.00 for each which will come with a 100.00 rebate on each handset. Long story long I got 2 Storm 2's for 340.00. Seems like a good enough deal to me, 2 phones for less than retail for one given that that is all I am entitled to. Now we have a touchscreen which we missed and still have a blackberry which we LOVE. Goodbye Tour HELLO STORM 2!!03-30-10 07:44 PMLike 0

- I am getting mine on Thursday... Coming off a S1 which really was a very good phone for me. Just thought it was time to step it up and see what all the hype is about... Can't wait. Congrats to you and your wife as well.....

I went to a VZW store and played with it and typed out a few memo's pretty easily and that is before I am used to it. If so the second tour will be up for grabs.03-30-10 09:05 PMLike 0
- If you didn't get insurance on either Storm you should keep one of the Tours as a back-up Better safe than sorry cause next time it will be full retail paying out.
Always good to have the insurance03-30-10 10:03 PMLike 0 -
I upgrded my 2 lines on the 1 year BUT my third line is up for full upgrade in July
saving that for Storm 3 or whatever drops that really gets me wanting again. I was very excited that it worked out this way as I am sure the Storm 2 is an Excellent device but this will be a BIG year for both VZW and RIM and given my predeposition to wanting the newest Berry out there I need to have an ace up my sleeve.
03-31-10 11:46 AMLike 0 - Sooooo...The Storm 2's arrived and WE LOVE THEM!! I was truly nervous about how I would take to the software keyboard; my Palm experience was favorable but while it was a touchscreen it stilt had a physical qwerty, I had played extensively with the Droid phones and could not get into it. I activated my phone, started to text a buddy and was blown away! Now I was not at my usual speed but I like the surepress, it helps to adjust from a physical keyboard and since that is all RIM offered until the Storm Series I now understand their line of thinking when adding this feature (in addition to making the trackball designed software easy to convert to touch). Either way I like the clickety click. Another thing that suprised me was suretype, it aint all bad. I prefer the landscape keyboard but dont mind the suretype in portrait. even though it is a qwerty layout it still tricks my brain with the 2 per button deal so I am a bit slower but improving. The biggest thing I must overcome is the buttons in the middle of the landscape keyboard (g,h etc.) I sometimes miss and hit a neighboring key because I roll my thumb or something but I will get it.
In the end the wife is happy and I am even haper than I thought I would be. Until I sell the tour it makes a great spare battery charger lol (I do miss the Tour battery life)
