Well, the Harlem store in NYC had about THREE! I was 13th in line, so needless to say, I didn't get one. But, I ordered at the store, and they guaranteed overnight deliver by NOON tomorrow. I felt badly for the store personnel, as people were PISSED OFF! About 10 minutes before they opened the gates, I noticed that the first 2-3 people in line disappeared (they had been there since 2am), but no one seemed to know where they went. I think that the store pulled them inside and did the sale. Then, when they opened up to the rest of us, they just said that they didn't have any. The thing that really irritates me is that I called the store last night, right before closing, and they gave no indication that they had only three.

I was 23 in line and got one... last night i called and they said they had 50, this morning they said they had 65 units???

My store had 18. They walked around in the parking lot to hand out tickets so you didn't need to stand in line. I got the 6th one.
There were at least 30 people who came in in the 1st half hour. They were told if they bought one they would have it by noon tomorrow (saturday).

They indicated that they should be getting a drop shipment around noon today but they were only expecting about 10 more in that shipment.

They were basically taking orders for shipments once they sold the original 10 units.

50 at my store. They gave ut flyers with numbers as well. If you got a plyer, you got a storm. Pretty organized in my opinion. No one was standing out side wondering if they would get one.

He wasn't waiting for a phone. He was just hanging out with his boy for a while and than dipped.

They may have had 2-3 in stock but my theory is that the workers got them.

My store had 21, Got there @ 4:30 am was 5th in line, got card #'s 6 and 7. My guy processed the first of my two, but then as he was getting ready to finish the second, it DISAPPEARED! Just vanished... The managers were searching the store for it... would have been funny if I hadn't been so tired, and if it hadn't been mine! He appologized, there were no more phones. I couldn't be mad at him, he didn't make it vanish, then he told me that I would get one from the drop shipment this afternoon... I left happy to have gotten the one because people were streaming in the door only to be told, too late, all gone. I got home and realized I had not gotten my change back from him in all the confusion (we are talking $80 out of a $100 bill!) so I headed back to the store. Just as I pulled in, he called me, "WE FOUND IT!" I said great, Im in the parking lot. Poor guy was so embarrased, not only had my phone gotten lost, he had to appolgize again for the change. But, all well that ends well... with 2 Storms!

I don't know what the typical time is to complete a transaction (new account, or phone upgrade, etc), but obviously the number of Storm transactions that could be completed by the staff is limited.

My store had probably 6-9 employees working the counter and sales floor. There were people waiting on the sales floor for their turn with a service rep. Even if there were plenty of Storms available, I could easily see how some of those people would end up standing there for 1-2 hours just waiting their turn. I'm sure other locations would have an even longer wait.

Imagine the frustration and posts we'd be seeing about VZW's failure to have adequate staff. LOL

All that said, based on the poll results so far, I think the average number of units is a little shy.

Went to the NYC store on 73rd and 3rd avenue. I predicted that it would get packed, so I woke at 4:40 and got there at 5:15 am. Store opened at 8, and I was first in line! (there were about 20-30 people on line at that point).

The store said they got 60 phones, so I walked out with mine after about an hour of activation and failing computers. But my rep was really helpful, discounted several accessories for me, and I got $50 off for NE2.

Paramus nj store had between 20-40 ( I asked 3 different reps and got 3 different answers in that range). I got there @ 5:30am & I was second in line.1/4 of the people on line didn't get one. They sold out after about an hour give or take.

ETA: I wasn actually IN THE STORE for 2 hours because the system kept crashing on the manager helping me.

I think the fliers with numbers on it was a good idea. They're handed out to the individuals as they walk in the store. I'm sure it made the waiting for those customers a little easier since they knew there would be a phone for them at the counter when it was their turn.

Thankfully, that process wasn't needed at my location.

I was number 12. And was surrounded by crackberry people! haha made it fun...

I got there at 5am for the 8am opening. Left with my phone around 9:30AM

Last night the mall store I visited said they had 5 so I didn't go there

The Verizon store I went to had about 30. Got there at 7am planning on seeing a long line and saw no one, there were 3 cars in the lot and everyone was sitting in their cars, it was 24 degrees.

About 7:15 we all got out and started lining up, I was number 4 with two doctors in front of me. The manager arrived and took our picture standing in line using a Storm and then wrote our names down on a piece of paper in the order we were in. By the time they open the doors there might have been 20 people in line. I was out of there in 45 minutes including transferring my info from the old phone and them setting up my email for me which that itself took a good 10 minutes.
