Well I am not sure if this will help any blackberry storm users out there having issues, but it certainly has helped myself a lot.

step 1. go to options
step 2. go to sceen/keyboard
step 3. scroll down to key rate and change to fast

you will notice that the keyboard will recognize your typing at a better rate then before for avid touch screen users
