Yeah i saw that when i dl it but why was one called mirror?
Being new to both smart phones and Blackberry specifically, my concern with upgrading an unofficial release is that it voids my warranty. If something goes wrong with the phone not related to the upgrade, it will cost to get it worked on. I don't know if there is a file which tracks the versions which have been loaded on the phone.
Stormer, from what I'm to understand from the folks here who work for RIM and Verizon, the warranty on the phone is still valid. There will be no support though.
As soon as I get home and kick kids off my computer will be downloading .109. It sounds as if it will cure all of my woes with .75.

mirror's what are these and wich on do I get?
That is true. Updating to unofficial can void your warranty. Here are the reasons that it doesn't happen.
- VZW/RIM is releasing the OS to the public. They want you to use it and complain about it. That is how they fix it.
- You can always go back if you don't like it. You have the option of installing any OS that you want in DM.
- There are many, many threads right here in CB that tell you how to recover if you have a boo-boo.
- Many of the mods here are very helpful and will respond if you have an issue. This is a great community. Nobody is going without a net.
- Get a good backup before you start. I don't know why, because I have not had an issue updating an OS on either of the BB's I have owned. It seems that some apps have issues with new OS's.
- You may have to restore your 3PA from the backup you made. This is no big deal, as it tells you the name of the file and you can restore easily.
- Some of those 3PA don't like it when you update. Most of the complaints about battery drain are because some GPS enabled app is killing your phone. Go set them up as soon as the install is complete.
- Be patient! The install takes a little time and turns your phone on and off several times.
- Use a clean computer. If your PC BSOD's every ten minutes, it is a bad idea to try to update.
- If you have questions following update, search and then ask. Remember, search and then ask.
the file is mirrored on these sites. it is the same file as the original post. basically, someone dl'ed it and then reposted it somewhere where you can go get it. it provides more bandwidth so the servers don't crash.
A mirror site is just a way of saying "alternate."
Just updated to .109 from .75. BIG DIFFRENCE there is. Everything seems more snappier! Even the typing lag is almost completely gone in the browser. The QWERTY Portrait mode is cool, but a little bit tiny for my liking lol.
Im still mad about the fact that you cant MMS pictures to other people besides the ones taken by the storm. This better be addressed in the next leak lol
ok the one that I picked is taking a little over an hour. is that normal
That's REALLY slow.
i'm upgrading tonight it's final, i have to try it, see you all on the flipside.
one of the mirrors purposely makes you wait a long time for the download, go to the other one
thats just to download it to my comp. is there a faster way? I'm only at 41%
yeah, everyone and their mother is downloading this OS. It has had 5 mirrors and been taken off of 3 of them for crashing servers.
You can google it and find more downloads.
If you are in for a penny, you are in for a pound. Relax, sit down, have a beverage, smoke, whatever. It will download, so just let it.
Please don't be the guy that pulls the cord in the middle of install and asks why it hung about half way through. Patience is a virtue, especially when everyone wants it.
Not to bash you but I don't think that is a justifiable reason FOR ME to not upgrade.
THERE IS NOTHING I can do during an OS upgrade or downgrade that is irreversible.
I have had this phone for 3 months now and will turn it in, in another 16 roughly. I am going to get everything out of this phone RIGHT NOW. I don't have all day to wait for another official OS to fix the problems that can be fixed now with a leaked OS.
I will ALWAYS have the ability to put .75 back on and return if necessary. I am not going to be scared of what "Might happen".
I have had leaked OS's for two months and love this phone. I don't think I would have the same love if I was running .75. But my crystal ball is broke.
Dude, what is that about? Seriously?
We are all awed by your, awesomeness?
Maybe some people don't geek like you or I do, and have legitimate concerns about upgrading. If you help them through their fears, instead of berating them, they might be able to enjoy their storm as much as you do.
Try helping someone instead of acting like you are superior to everyone.
Also try not to get your panties in a bunch because someone thinks what you are doing is illegal.
Ok, I think you guys have convinced me to upgrade.
Think I'll do it this week-end.
I have upgraded to every OS release and subsequently downgraded back to .75 after installing .103, .103/90hybrid, .106/75 hybrid, and .109. Since about 2 weeks ago every time I try a leaked OS I can never get me phone to go 3G after the new OS has been installed (no 1XEV only 1X or sometimes 1xev).
I honestly think there is an actual physical problem with the radio in the phone as my sister has a storm running .75 and we'll sit next to one another and her's will be in 1XEV and mine will randomly switch between 1X and 1XEV even on .75.
Aside from that there's a ton of dust under the screen. VZW is sending a replacement my way. It should be here tomorrow. Hopefully it is not a refurb.
From .75 to .103 and I'm still in love with my phone. Yes the OS isn't official but **** .75 was a mess to begin with so why not upgrade to a mess with more speed...LOL. But it seem that all the leaked OS have gotten better each time one came out so i guess their on the right track.
Ok, Just took the plunge and everything is fine.
Whew!:D
Yep its basically on autopilot". And u don't need to take out the battery because the installation process will reboot the phone for you. I dl'd the OS from the main .109 findings thread. Hope that helps, if not feel free to msg me :)
