insurance covers drops abuse lost stolen and you pay $50 deductible
warranty covers defects only things go bad with the product for no reason with no abuse replaced for free for 1 year.

To add to this, if you buy the $5.99/month "Total Equipment Coverage", the manufacturer's warranty is bumped up to 2 years. ;)

Yes, it's always going to be like that after 30 days. Only nice thing is with the higher insurance, you've got 2 years of coverage without a deductable if the failure is due to manufacturing failure. For $12 more a year then the standard (dollar less) insurance, I'll take the peace of mind. I had to use it on my 8830 POS after 1 year and it came in handy.
