I found a workaround to address the memory leak with Talklock and the Storm.
I don't have enough posts to put up a link, so here is my reply to another post:
Well I got TalkLock to run with the memory leak issue resolved.
I enabled the built-in BBerry memory cleaner.
It can be found under "Security Options"
I set "Clean When Holstered" to "Yes" and I set "Clean When Idle" to "Yes".
"Idle Timeout" was set to 30 minutes
Now the available memory never drops below 38 megs.
I tried a battery pull to see if the homescreen options came back and it works now.
BTW the battery pull put back to 40 megs of free app memory.

So now I have a 2 meg memory leak... which I can live with.
