    I can't use the qwert key pad my thumbs are too big... I just use SureType now

    Yes -- go to Options, Screen/Keyboard, Portrait View Keyboard.
    Change option to Multitap.

    You can also change on the fly - BB button > enable Multitap.

    As an aside, you shouldn't be texting while driving. It's very dangerous to you and to others on the road.

    ...or you can have your left hand and right hand surgically swapped so that you can use the full QWERTY keyboard with your pinkies.
