Ok maybe i just haven't read up enough on Verizon and there 3G capabilities but my storm supports 3g yet when i activate it, it does not work. Now i thought Verizon was a 3g network or is the 1XEV there form of 3G, or am i just not in the coverage area?
Madmilk,
If you want to see the "3G" sign and the BB logo on your Storm, fly to Italy. I was just there for a vacation and that is how the signal is identified by Vodaphone. When we are on 3G, our phones show 1XEV.
Rich
PS: FWIW, I noticed no difference in performance while in Italy when I had a "3G" signal. Same as home. It looked cooler on the phone, but that was about it.
haterade is common here, don't worry about kids like that
regardless of what phone someone owns, he has a point jesus tap dancing christ a simple search would have answered this dudes question without making the 635454615462541654354232 thread about 3g

1EV is VZW's 3g, so if that is what you are seeing then you are on the 3g

Your probably out of a 3G coverage area. Check the Rogers coverage map and if your supposed to have coverage in your area but still aren't getting 3G then start a new thread about your problem.
1XEV = 3G Voice and Data
1xev = 3G Voice
1X = WTF??
1x = WTF??

1X is basically the CDMA equivelant of the GSM EDGE. Its a slower, older technology that usually only shows up in rural areas. I think VZW calls it National Access or Nationwide Access. But its basically using your phone at slightly faster than dial up speeds, up to 144 KBPS.

Thanks! I am in a fairly rural area, but my coverage drops to the 1X after I d/c a tether. 1XEV comes back 3 bars + after I d/c all connections and then connect again.

My cable connection at home.

I might be wrong, but I was under the impression that the 9500 did not support North American 3G bands, but only European 3G. Edge is as good as it gets on Rogers with the Storm currently.

I have to contribute too
1x = activate your phone!!
and yes:
3G (3rd Generation) is the same as EV-DO (Evolution Data Optimization)... doesn't matter what the phone displays... either way will carry the same speeds
