Ok, so for the longest I have been on a family plan with who else but my family. I decided to get my own phone, and own line however I still want my old number. Is this possible, or will I be forced to take a new number?

Also if i do have to take a new number can I still keep my 718 area code, even though I now reside in Tampa? I already placed my order and I had to tell them my zip code just in case you guys wanted to know.

You can port your current number, no problem. Let them know when you get the phone activated. You can choose your area code too.

Assuming you want to stay with the same carrier its called a " Transer of Liability". You can split your line from theres keeping your number and then renewing your contract with a new phone. If you wish to switch carriers, you will need a "port" as stated before but might wanna make sure our contract is up before doing so or you get hit with an ETF.
