so i just went to reply to a text message and then the screen displayed was like...up 1/3. and the rest was on the bottom, kinda like messed up vcr tracking? o.O then i turned it off and on and it was still like that. then i did it again and it froze, and gave me this static looking image. a battery pull fixed it. but still, what the heck??

Welcome to the club. This is very typical for my use. I have had about 12 or more battery pulls. 4 for that type of issue. THis phone is buggy. We are the Beta testers whether you like it or not. It was released before it's time.

I had the same exact thing with the static...I just got my replacement today-the very next day-call them first thing in the morning.

Verizon told me that they had no other reports of the static!

After the static thing showed up, my original Storm would end up with a blank screen 8-10 times a day for which I had to do a battery pull....my phone keypad would not display all the numbers when i dialed...call Verizon and get A REPLACEMENT. I did and I am happy...for now.
