I recently upgraded to a Class 6 8GB MicroSD card which was one sale at Best Buy Canada for $34.99. The one that came with the Storm is a Class 2 microSD card.


Transferring videos (with conversion) was a lot faster with the newer card.
Overall transferring data is a lot faster too.

Anyone else change the chips??
I wanted to get the 16GB microSD card, but it was $119.99 which is WAY over my budget.

Usually I just enable mass storage mode and drag and drop my files into the folders, so transfer time has never been that big of an issue.

I've wondered since day 1 if the Storm could read faster than Class 2 and never really got a definitive answer. Thanks New Dude

And for $35 you can't really go wrong!!

I'm just using the Class 2 chip as a thumb drive with a USB adapter. Nice and small to carry around in my keychain!

i switched mine out to a class 6 first day because i had it from my old phone but im waiting for the 16gb to come down in price then ima be able to put some movies on it

I have the HC 16GB card which i purchased immediately off of Ebay for like $50-60. Arrived in about 3-5 days and works awesome.

I bought my 16GB card on Amazon (cant remember the name of the company that sold it) and paid $49 USD for it. This card made the transfer speed 10x faster.

does this also improve how quickly it read whats on the disc on reboots? It seems like ever since I upgraded to a leaked os, whenever it reboots it doesn't show half my music files until I go and delete all the bbthumb.dat files from the explorer menu. Does this help that?

Class 2 a6GB for me, works fast enough, 2 full movies in less than two minutes. I never find myself in a huge rush just as I start to sync media.

Right on the card there is a small symbol that looks like a number in a circle, it's the class number with a c.

I would swear before or shortly after the Storm Launched Civic or someone else who's knowledge is vast comapred to my own, was positive that the storm couldn't read a card at a faster rate than the class 2 & the only speed that would be improved was the speed between teh PC & the card IF it was removed and placed in an external reader that supported the dfaster class.

It might have been the tear down thread

I have two 16gb cards and the 8gb that came with phone. The speeds seem fine to me.
