Anyone know of any that work? I used Jmirc on my curve but the Storm's security won't allow it to connect. Figured I'd come ask the experts.

Tried jmirc and wlirc2....those of you using either of these applications, what did you do to get them to work? I just get stuck on connecting and it never connects, tried a few different irc servers.

I have fallen back on using Mobile SSH in compatibility mode (horrid) to connect to a linux box running irssi. Trying to use something that gives me more screen space to work with.

I've tried "Virca" and it seems to work without the need for a proxy (just put in "SantaAna.ca.us.undernet.org:6667" (for example) for the Host and it connects directly).

I'm not sure how WELL it works though. I get seemingly random /MSG tabs...like someone's trying to talk to me in private but, when I go to the tab, there's just some random IRC command (like a Quit: message of someone I wasn't talking to). And, I'm not sure if the things I'm saying in-channel or via the private MSG is getting through.

    But, it DOES connect.

Thanks, I will give that one a shot. I know its a bit older than jmirc and vlirc, but if it works then who cares

Would be nice if someone came out with a new client though, been searching ever since I picked up a curve last year.

Just installed Virca, and while the program isn't very pretty, it does work.

I did it at my desktop with IRC running there, too, and everything was updating and posting at the same speed as on my computer.

Did you set any special application permissions? I have tried jmirc / vlirc2 and virca with no luck. It always hangs on connecting and times out giving a "General Socket Error" in each app. I always get the notice that "this app wants to make a connection to *" and hit "OK", but I get the same error.

Did you make any tweaks to the Applications Permissions to get this working?

messed w/ jmirc again, finally got it going. Had my server info wrong was using (irc.quakenet.org as opposed to us.quakenet.org). Also edited all permissions to allow, so not sure which one actually fixed it, but got it going for me.

could you explain how to do this to someone who has never used irc such as myself. I love the idea of being able to chat in a chatroom on my mobile.

I didn't, beyond saying "yes" when it asked me if I wanted to allow a low-level something network connection.

I just used it straight "out of box" after setting up a profile for the channel/network I wanted to connect to.

No...jmirc doesnt display the ppl in the room. u just talk, and see if they answer, on Linux, i use x-chat and on windows Mirc, those show who is in each room, and are full programs.

jmirc is just a small version of it.

jmIrc will display the people in the room. goto the options menu, select Names - and it gives you the list of who's on.
