I have recently noticed that the camera in my Storm seems to take two different size pictures, depending on whether the Flash is used or not. I have the defaults set to "Large (2048x1536)", and Superfine, with the Flash set to Automatic. But all pictures I have taken using the Flash have been either "Small (640x480)" or "Medium (2048x1536)".
Does the camera automatically overide the "Large" picture setting when the Flash is used? I took pictures of some friends in a bar a few nights ago using the Flash, and they turned out to be the Small size and very grainy. The camera is set for the Large size pictures. Any ideas what's going on?
As an aside, I was talking to VZW and RIM tech support yesterday about a backup issue, and both techs seemed unaware of this issue. The VZW guy was actually surprised to see that photos he had taken on his own Storm were doing the same thing. He said he was entering this issue in their "Issue Book" for the Storm. Very nice guys, BTW.
