- Mine is doing the same thing. I am still on the official .75, but yesterday and today have really drained my battery. I had 1 bar left at 12:30pm today after a full night's charge and only about 25 minutes of talk time.
I have Poynt, Viigo, AP News, WSJ, WorldMate, and Weatherbug. I keep my GPS turned off until I need it, and even turned off Weatherbug location.03-05-09 05:29 PMLike 0 - Weatherbug location being off saves power, but it updates automatically still at the set increments in the options. That does drain, though it shouldnt that much. Also, changing the setting to 1XEV from Global will save you as well.
The Global setting will search for GSM networks which you dont need if you are in the US incld. Alaska and Hawaii as you will be on the VZW network anyway. This will also save some power.
Any app that has an automatic update will use your data to do so, and will use power. There are also some setting such as screen brightness and timeout that will save power if adjusted.03-05-09 05:36 PMLike 0 - There have been many complaints that .109 causes major battery drains. I am running .109 and havent seen any battery issues at all since I updated it.
Not saying its not the OS, but always look at other apps or issues that could be draining it as well.
Also, as your application memory gets lower, your phone will take more time to do certain things, and this will directly affect the battery life. Doing a battery pull once in a while will help, or use the quickpull all to do the same thing.03-05-09 06:06 PMLike 0 - 03-05-09 07:46 PMLike 0
- I had this same problem and called into Verizon. I talked to some guy in data and he said that it was a software glitch and my phone needed to be wiped and start over. Now I certainly don't want to take the time to do this all the time, so I am very concerned. I also am using .7503-05-09 08:02 PMLike 0
- I'm running .109 and am having no battery issues at all. In fact, I've been impressed with the battery life. I think it has more to do with apps than OS though.03-05-09 08:08 PMLike 0
- I have been running 109 for over a week now and have not noticed a drain on my battery. I charged it yesterday after being off the charger for 48 hours and it still showed 40%. I do have GPS location on, but turned off location on weatherbug, and changed my viigo to only look for updates every 12 hours as it was set to every hour after updating to 109, it will look for updates when I open it anyway. I also have my backlight at 20%. Not sure if any of these will help, but it is possible to get decent battery life on 109.03-05-09 08:13 PMLike 0
- I have had the same problem today. I unplugged it at 3:15 am with a 100% charge and it was dead by 8:30am!!! I have NEVER had a battery problem with any kind of blackberry to this magnitude. It almost sounds like its something Verizon is doing. I notice the common theme of this thread is "the last two days". I am running .109 and have had it for a few weeks and only today has the battery been junk. The apps I have are weatherbug, that's what she said app (lol), the easy button, viigo, ap news (which doesn't update unless I open it), youtube, etc. Nothing that SHOULD drain it in that short of a time. Hoping someone can think of something.03-05-09 08:53 PMLike 0
- I down graded from 99 to 75 and found the battery life of the storm would last about 4 to 5 hours with out even using the drawn thing, I did install 109 and found the battery life is back to norm... but now I see the phone is starting to reboot and may have to reinstall .99 I have weatherbug as well...03-05-09 09:04 PMLike 0
- Over the past week or so my battery has been a bit erratic. Last week, my battery lasted me two full days with the usual use. Then last night, put it on the charger stand with the battery at around 40% and when I woke up eight hours later, the battery was only at about 50%, whereas it usually is fully charged by then. So I plugged it into a wall charger and after a few hours, it was still around 50%. I did a battery pull and when it rebooted it was down to around 10%. Plugged it back in and it has only been about a half an hour, it is showing about 40%. I'll give it a few hours and see what happens, otherwise I gotta believe my battery is defective.03-06-09 07:04 AMLike 0
- I'm having the same problem as Dancer. I've been running .75 since Day 1 with no battery problems whatsoever. I have installed no new apps for several weeks (Slacker being the last one).
For the past two days, though, the battery is getting sucked dry at an accelerated pace.
I put a full charge on it last night and unplugged it around 10 p.m. Woke up at 5a.m. and had just one single bar staring at me.
I am literally doing nothing different this week than the previous week, and the one before that ... etc.

- Dancer56 - update to a better platform like .114hybrid v2. In the short term, a battery pull once a day should work for you but will not solve the problem.03-23-09 10:13 AMLike 0
- Over the last few days I have had the same issue. I charge it overnight, unplug it around 7:30 am and here it is 9:30 and mine is just about dead. I have only twitterberry on my phone and of course my email at the moment. The last official OS is whats on it (I know im boring but just haven't added or done much - no time to play yet!)05-04-09 08:33 AMLike 0
- This happens to me sometimes. Make sure you've exited all the programs you can. Don't just press the "back" button or the red button; actually select "Exit." This is especially important for Weatherbug, as that program (or any other program that uses GPS) will absolutely tank your battery if you leave it running.
Hope this helps.05-04-09 01:10 PMLike 0
