I have the UK spec Storm 9500 that is giving problems.

Like all good smart phone owners I keep it to hand all the waking hours of the day. It is generally in my pocket but as I veg out in front of the TV in the evening it resides on the arm of my chair.

This is when it gets annoying. It will beep and flash the red light. An email or sms or even facebook message is there. But before I can pick up the phone to read the message, I see it has gone from a GPRS signal to Tx or SOS.

How?

Nothing has changed. It hasn't moved, I haven't moved to block the obviously narrow band signal from the nearest Vodafone Tower..... Why?

Vodafone has been less than helpful and suggested I upgrade to the latest OS. This was done through the Blackberry desktop manager. Five hours later (!) several lockouts on the PC, the phone was upgraded. Now all I had to do was try to locate all the apps that had gone missing. Downloading new versions was fraught as the bloody phone was still suffering from Tx or SOS, just as it had before the upgrade.

Any ideas?
