In my Options, About screen it says Blackberry 9500 but at the back of the phone (on the battery door) it says "QUALCOMM 3G CDMA".

As far as what I read the 9500 is not a 3G phone right, but I have also noticed that my Storm does connect to 3G networks. Atleast the signal indicator does say 3G/EDGE/GPRS/GSM (wherever applicable).

Please help me identify my phone version so that I can update.

If your about setting says that it's a 9500 then I'm guessing thats most likely what it is.

You have a 9500 if that's what it says at the about screen. The text on the battery door is the same for all phones. The 9500 is the european version o the storm and works on 3G

very much to the contrary - the 9500 is an HSDPA-capable UMTS/3G phone that uses a Qualcomm CDMA chip, supporting downloads up to 7.2mbps (that's about double as fast as the EV-DO Rev A 9530). That's why the Qualcomm info is printed on it.

you have the GSM version of the storm, sold by Vodaphone most likely. Or perhaps one of the canadian carriers. It does have 3G Connectivity. Where did you buy your phone?

Definitely a 9500. The 9530's "about" screen display:
    Blackberry 9530
    smartphone (3G, CDMA)

However, the 9500 and the 9530 are pretty much the same phone from what i've heard. What OS version are you running? The latest official OS for the 9530 is v4.7.0.75

If it's not .65 or .75, then that further justifies the 9500 conclusion.

The 9530 doesn't have wifi. The only Storm that apparently is getting wifi is the not-yet-released Storm 9520 on Rogers.
