Before the new 5.0 update, you could enter the call log and click on a contact and choose what number to call back with. For example if one contact is saved with a mobile, home and work number and they call you with a work number but you wanted to call back on their mobile, all I used to do was open the call log, click their name and it would open a menu to select the number to call back. After upgrading to 5.0, when I click, the phone calls them right away without giving me the option. I know I can use the berry button and go through that menu but I like the simple short cut of clicking on the screen.
Unfortunately, it just is the way it is. I've done the same as you until I finally figured it out. There is no way around it though, except to downgrade.
