Do we know the model number for the Storm 2? Perhaps 9550? 9730?

I'm willing to bet it'll still be the 9530... replacement of the current model.

It'll probably still be a member of the 95XX series... I'm hoping that those two X's will be replaced by "20" if you catch my drift.

I'm gonna say "the new and improved Storm that will make up for the first Storm. It's really better. We promise."

What we seem to know. 9=3G GSM or Rev A (or is it rev 0, I can never keep em straight). 30=CDMA. It's the second digit we're missing. 9630 is the Tour. The 8520 Gemini is a Curve so 5 doesn't relate to Storm or touch. The Pearl went 81 to 82 in the flip. The Curve went 83 to 89 and 85. 90 is taken by the Bold so I'd be surprised to see it as a 9030. 9130 seems like it would be a 3G/Rev ? pearl. Supposedly there's a 9220 that's a Berry and not a pearl. Then there is the 99 series which iiirc is the hybrid touch and keyboard Berry. I'd really have to go with 9730.

30 has always been CDMA primary radio. If the truth is that the Storm 2 will have wifi along with everything else it has now, then perhaps all CDMA Blackberries that add WIFI could be the xx50's... who knows....

Civy, you are most likely correct. It will most likely be a xx50, but I do believe it will be the 97xx series. In order for it to keep the 95xx designation, it would need to keep within the current specs of the S1. 99xx is the hybrid, which is mainly targeted for Euro' users. I'm sure we'll see it here, though. The 98xx series spot is wide open. Who knows? The S2 could be the 9850, or it could be held for the future Bold replacement.

I personally would love to see:

    97xx: Bold successor
    98xx: Storm v2
99xx: S2/Tour love child. It will supposedly come with a slide out. If it does, I might skip on it. Basically, they are killing the trackball for this. The optical might stay for Curves and Pearls.

RIIIGHT! I forgot about that... 50's are iDen models. How could I forget that...

    xx00 are GSM devices

    xx10 are GSM, with GPS

    xx20 are GSM with WiFi

    xx30 are CDMA devices

xx50 iDEN Direct Connect + GPS + WiFi

Maybe it will keep current numbering per carrier, or it could just stick to 00. 00 can be used as generic.
Just making sure you guys that are doing all this guess work remember the 8350i

Actually I disagree, not to get off topic, but the 8350i is a great device just on a terrible network. The device itself is great though.

You just agreed with my post. Nextel's network is severely outdated. I mean it works, but it doesn't perform to current standards. Almost like the Storm on 4.7.0.75... Ba-Zing!

Is there any chance that Vodafone will get the Storm 2 before Big Red? Carriers outside of the US usually beat our service providers (especially VZW) when it comes to releasing phones.

If Voda releases their version of the Storm 2 we might be able to get a true hands-on preview of the hardware and software before people rush to upgrade their phones.

This might give us the info we need to determine whether this phone is just a revision of the first generation Storm or if this will be worthy upgrade.

I can help you right now; its more of a revision then a new device. Think of it as the Storm 1.5, not 2.0

    Hope that helps.

Thanks for the info. I have a feeling that a lot of Storm v.1 phones will hit eBay once this phone is released.

True. I just feel that a normal consumer will see this new device as the next greatest BB storm and not know that it's a revision unless Verizon treats it as one or if people get informed here.

I had a feeling it was... Since it was able to run 4.7, I knew it had the same basic tech. Also, when you say revision, please tell me they took the time to change some of the hardware... more memory perhaps? Think of it this way, if you can confirm it, RIM just earned some money.
