Hold on a sec.. by mesh do you mean metal or fabric? Someone else described it as a metal mesh or something... just wanted to clarify.

I'm wondering how the metal mesh grill is attached... is it glued in? Maybe the glue is failing and the grill is falling off without the owner noticing? I would try checking mine by prying it apart and noodling around with it, but I'm not "adventurous"...

Try putting tape over it and then removing the tape.

yeah it is stuck on with a thin double sided tape or a semi sticky adhesive. Mine got bent a little bit so i pulled it off and straightened it. It comes off really easy, I used my thumb nail with the battery cover off and pulled it off. Very cheap I must say!! The paint chipped off when I bent it back to shape... Might take it off and leave it off.
