Have you been to the Verizon web site and read the reviews on the Storm? Not their "forum", reviews of phones. It's amazing how many people are furious, yet no response. Hunkered down and waiting on the law suits.

I agree. Paying $175 each for two phones might be worth it. We will have to wait this one out. Maybe something good will come about. Hopefully these guys are reading our posts carefully and will come to the table. My beef, make your "star player" shine. We helped launch this baby (S1) into orbit.

I guess you need to decide if you are interested in switching to the new device. I would think this device will be spot on after what occurred with the launch of the first model.
If you decide to switch I would sell your current Storm prior to the new release if you want to make any money off of it. Once the new device is released your current device won't be worth much.
I don't think Verizon has any intention of offering a discount on the new device to existing customers. They are going to sell a slew of them.
I think you guys thinking you'll get any kind of a discount for upgrading are in for some serious disappointment.
We can probably very easily make a case for a discount, especially if we paid full price (like I did. NE2 wasn't even close and I couldn't get the price down... they were selling too well then)
I'll hit up the store when S2 comes out to play with it. Love my storm but I do know it's soft spots and that's what I'll be looking for on the S2. If I like it then I'm on the phone with customer service demanding a discount (CSR's don't get commission, they don't mind giving you a discount. You know: love verizon but very disappointed, iphone, unsatisfied customer, iphone, commercials kind of misleading, iphone, etc...) If I don't like it, then I'll keep installing the os leaks which have really taken care of most of my problems.
I would think if, and its a big if, an upgrade would be offered, it would come from RIM, not the carriers.
On another note, if the storm sells at $199 new contract price which I kinda of think it has to be around that range to compete with pre and iphone...it's still cheaper to add a line to my existing two lines to get the storm then pay ETF for the storm1 line. Way less than the $600 it's probably going to cost to buy it outright. I don't mind the resigning of the contract.
Thankfully, I have a company owned Storm. What I am thinking of doing, is when 2 comes out, I will try it for 30 days if they offer that. If I am happy with it, I will go ahead and purchase it (for personal use) and exchange my company phone for a Curve or something else they offer us. However, I am interested to see what Verizon does if and when they get the iPhone.
2010 can't get here soon enough my friend. :DHowever, I am interested to see what Verizon does if and when they get the iPhone.
I wouldn't take a storm 2 if they gave it to me for free. RIM not only doesn't care about its customers but it is unable to develop or even test a touchscreen device. Companies like that do not deserve our money and time.

Taking it to the next level eh? Not just a Storm hater, but a full-fledged RIM hater! No one forced you to get the Storm. But hey, if you're going to boycott RIM for an unfounded reason, then there's more one free new BlackBerry for me! :D
I personally look forward to seeing what RIM puts out for a new touchscreen BlackBerry.
I say it how it is. When it comes to phones, my Storm is the 4 of clubs. RIM has had enough time and $ to make things right for Storm owners...they haven't. They've made a new phone instead.
As an aside, I am pretty tired of your crapping on everything I say Zipster. We just have different opinions of this phone and the company that makes it. That said, my reasons for not giving RIM my hard earned money are far from unfounded. Calling me a hater is uncalled for and childish. In the future, don't feel pressured to read my posts.
Cheers.

And I was just saying how it is too. From your one post in this thread, you're judging the company based on only 1 device. True you have the right to not give them your money. But saying that RIM doesn't care about its customers is unfounded because you don't know exactly what they're doing. RIM could be submitting OS builds to Verizon multiple times a week, but Verizon keeps shooting them down because of their insane OCD. For all we know, the leaked builds could be RIM's secret way of support for its customers. Unlikely, but not impossible.
Plus they are still giving support to BlackBerries that don't even have the trackball. I'd call that support for its customers!
And as for that aside, are you telling me that I can't voice my opinions just because they differ from yours? I think being able to reply is why the "Reply" button's there. Yes, "hater" might have been too...harsh, I'll give you that. You do have to admit that your post looked just like one of the many posts made by Storm haters.
But this is not the place to discuss this. Please PM me with all the gripes you have about my posts.
And I'm not pressured to read your posts. You're no more special than any of the other hundreds of posts I read throughout the day. Please get off your high horse.
