go to sms options change the number to like 10 or so its on the bottom
If you're referring to the fact that each message shows up as an individual listing in your SMS Inbox, that is how it has always been with all versions of the OS and probably will be for the foreseeable future. Threaded SMS was not a promised feature in .148.
Sometimes it does put all the txt messages together and then boom, it separates them again? Anyone seen this before?
Not in the inbox, no. If I open up a specific message it will show all the related messages below it (as long as the chain has been continued by using the "Reply" button and not creating a new message), but there's never been any threading of messages in the Inbox view.
"If I open up a specific message it will show all the related messages below it"
Yes this is what im talking about. I understand the reply suggestion and I have tried that - but still the messages from the same conversation are separate.
What is the Number of Previous Items exactly? (Located in the Options/sms text)
Both people have to be using the reply function in order for that to work -- is the recipient also using reply? That's the only thing I can think of... I've been running .148 since it leaked and haven't had a problem with keeping the threads together.
They should be using the reply. They are on a regular non smart phone. U know, like a flip phone. It must be some type of setting I dont have right.
This issue has happened with the original OS .75
I just thought id mention that I was on .148
Correct me if im wrong, but...
If we are having a conversation via txt. My inbox should show one message - when I open this message it should list the whole conversation in there correct?
Or am I supposed to have 25 messages in my inbox - all relating to the same conversation? Each response as a new message?
Lol I hope this makes sense
I get you. Haha, unfortunately I have no idea how to help though... Im still trying to get my emails sent to me on time.
In the inbox, every message will show up individually.
When you open an individual message, it will list all the related messages below it.
Native RIM software does not use threaded SMS/MMS; I believe there are threading clients available (though you'd have to search for those as I'm not sure which ones they are).
Ok so im not going crazy. This makes sense. Its kind of annoying but oh well haha. Thanks guys for the help.
One last question for this thread - What is the Number of Previous Items exactly? (Located in the Options/sms text)
I think that is how many messages will be displayed when you open any given message that has 'history' (not sure on this though). Example: you have an SMS conversation 15 messages long; if your setting is 10, you'll only see the 10 most recent. (again, might be wrong on this)
Ok no doubt. Thanks!
No, it wont list all related messages below. Only ones that you replied directly to
Right, poor word choice on my part. I never forward SMS messages, so I forgot about that function.
