D means it has been delivered to someone on the same carrier as you (verizon to verizon), its always been like that with pretty much every phone

You may only get the d if you are sending it to a verizon customer.

A while ago, VZW was phasing that out if some markets. People revolted, they changed their mind... could be the reason why you never noticed it before. They could have just recently reenabled it for your market, but it's pretty much been a standard VZW practice for SMS/MMS on ANY phone.

Well why is it that When mines say "D" its because they're being delivered and the person on the other end hasnt gotten the bbm yet and then i get "R" for them being recieved right after "D" and then they start to respond?

Not just same carrier. I used to be on T-mobile with a BB Pearl and would send pics to a co-worker on a different carrier and saw the "D". Now with my Storm on Verizon, I still see that "D".

Simple guys, its been like this since i first got my first verizon phone. The D means delievered but it only appears when you send it to another verizon member. If you crack your phone, i am 99% sure that it wont work.

Yeah. As far as I know whenever you send a text to someone from VZW to VZW it has the D or if you send a pic or video to anyone it has it as well

I don't understand why he is freaking out over the "D" I have had Verizon for over five years now and have always seen the "D" when it was delivered and the "R" when the recipient had received the text. It's a nice way of knowing your text got there.

Once again it's not just vzw to vzw. I used to have t-mobile with a pearl. I would send pics to co-workers, and it would display the "D". So I can attest that it's not just a vzw to vzw thing.

Sorry just getting a little laugh. Civic usually has an abrupt style (IMHO) but definitely good info. Civic also has an intolerance for failing to stay on point or failing to use the search function (as do many others around here for good reason). I do know what you are saying about BB messenger though (don't kill me civic) as that is the only place I get the "D" and "R" on mine, not on emails or SMS (I never send MMS).
