    I just noticed today that a new gmail icon has appeared on my phone. it was at the top of my home screen, so it displaced my icons. it appears to be my gmail, but it shows all messages instead of grouping them. I don't know where it came from or why. Can I just delete it, or should I hide it?

    Usually a battery pull will get rid of it.

    Yes... Battery pull and if that doesn't work, just hide it.
