I have friends in my Contacts list with their BlackBerry PINs, and most are also in my BBMessenger. I thought that there was a way to pull up a map of where they are currently at that was based off of their PIN. Am I wrong, or do I just need to enable Verizon Navigator (of which I'm not willing to pay Verizon for).

The new version of Google Maps (v.3.0) has the ability to share your location with other users of the software. If you and your friends use the new version (which is free), you can share locations with each other. http://www.google.com/gmm

Isn't that the new Latitude that was announced today? I could have sworn there was a way to do this without that.

To my knowledge no. You can send your location to a BBM contact, or they can send to you, which you can then look up, but I don't know of anything inherent in BB maps which allows a realtime tracking.
