to select multiple items you use 2 fingers to select the bottom and top. So I would guess one of your fingers is touching the screen while you are scrolling, which would select the items.
You probably have another finger or part of your hand resting on the screen. I used to have a similar problem with my laptop. I'd be typing, and inadvertently rest my palm on the mouse trackpad, causing the cursor to jump.
Try making your hand into a fist with just the index finger extended like you're pointing at something. Then make absolutely sure there's at least 1" between any other part of your hand and the screen, except your index finger naturally. Is the scrolling improved? If so, you'll need to make a point of watching yourself normally and change your habits for using the phone. Otherwise, you have stumbled across a bug that, AFAIK, no one else has encountered.
so weird...definitely only using one finger and not touching any other part of the screen...only happens sometimes though. i just tried it again, and the first time scrolling was great, then the next time all i was doing was selecting messages while swiping.
It could also be the hand you are holding it with, maybe your fingers or a thumb is wrapping around the edges?
Nope never had that problem.
Weird. Its taking some getting used to, but I like it now.

The reason this is happening is simple. When you are pressing down to scroll, you are actually high lighting a bar that is a "day" instead of a "message" if you get what I mean. This will cause the problem. So make sure you highlight a message when scrolling, instead of a divider bar. Good luck.
