Same thing happened to me. Just happened to me again yesterday, in the middle of texting. Did a battery pull. I had the problem in .75 and now in the .113 / .114 hybrid.
I am on .75 and that happens at least one a week. Usually a sign of available memory getting really low. I was shocked mine would go to 0.00 and still work.
I'm on .75 I'm wiping my computer this week since I got nailed by a virus so my windows is jacked up and I"m upgrading to Vista Ultimate so I think I'll put .109 on since that one seems to be the most stable.
I was having a lot of lock up's and had to do a few battery pulls on my 2 week old Storm... I was getting fed up, so I removed the program called Slacker, and that was the last time I had a crash or ANY kind....
It is also the last time I have had to do a battery pull. (Going on 3 weeks now with no BP's.... *crosses fingers* )
This happens to me about once a day.. I get it most when I switch back and forth from browser to text messaging, or when I am replying to an email and if I receive a text at the same time that I click send on the email.
yea mines does this sometimes when i press the screen or a button to make it come from sleep, but i never had to batt pull, when the screen orientation adjusts, its usually fixed.

I've had both issues occur. The same as the OP and more recently now that I am running above .103 the same as Swift20 every time I pull it out of the holster recently on .113 it's like it turns the backlight on and everything is garbled and over the course of two seconds or so it refreshes two or three times and is back to normal.
I would be surprised if anyone is still reading the "yeah, me too" repsonses. I'll add one more. It's happened once, when I took it off the charging cord (I charge all night, every night and use it as my alarm clock). I pulled the cord and the screen tiled, then went to snow and nothing would fix it except a battery pull. I've only done a few battery pulls since I got the phone in February because I can usually get to QuickPull, but that was a no-go with that snowy (but pretty) screen. I have a case that is very hard to remove, so I'm hoping that the snow stays away.
Mine did it earlier today, and had to do a battery pull to resolve it. Was receiving a text when it occurred. Am running .113. First time it's ever happened on mine.
That happened t me one when I was running os .75 (I'm running .113 now) it scared the crap out of me. Battery pull fixed it though and it hasn't happened since.

I have already upgraded two phones to the .109 firmware and have had that happen to one of them but not the other. The one time it recovered, had to do a battery pull the second time. May have been my impatience on the second one.

I did I think it has something to do with opening an app and switching from between modes too quickly the first time it happened the phone locked up and I had to do a battery pull second time it just went away on its own strange.
