    Even with a "working" phone, can you see this as a long term, permanent modification?

    I'm sure that's what he is implying to. RIM's best bet would be to remake the battery door with nubs to push against the battery.

    Yes. Because from what I am hearing, even those who are having no problems still seem to experience an event better phone when the extra material is installed. So I was wondering if people think this is a good permanent mod?

    No, just figured it would be a cleaner install then other options. The correct thing to do would be to keep returning phones that have this issue until RIM fixes it, but I know some of you won't do that.
