After searching, and searching, and searching this forum to find a solution to this problem I finally found it...there is none!
Some users have come up with quick fixes such as creating custom profiles or setting all contacts to vibe individually but as I am finding out with Blackberries or at least the Storm for this matter, every phone reacts differently. And to that I ask, what kind of s*** is that?
Its one thing if its a bug in the phone and EVERYONE is experiencing this result but its a roll of the dice. Some has the problem some don't. You upgrade to .90 its a 50 50 chance your camera will take a s*** on you. Your phone may or may not reboot 4-5 times a day. This is what I did not expect from a smartphone let alone a Blackberry. Now before you start bashing let me say I expected there to be some problems. But as I stated earlier I expected these problems to be common and to be shared by everyone. I don't wanna wake up everyday and wonder hmmm, I wonder if my phone is gonna take a s*** on me while I'm taking care of some business on my phone. Am I going to miss that important phone call I've been waiting for if I upgrade to .85? Man, I left my camera home, oh well, thats why I got a phone with a 3.2 MP camera...oh wait, its not saving right now, let me pull my battery 4 consecutive times and hope it runs sometime within the next 45 minutes. This is absurd...
I am a man of minor annoyances. And all of these minor problems are pissing me off. Its kind of pointless to sit here and post solutions to the numerous yet random bugs on this phone. From what I've seen on this forum, between .75 and .90 NONE of my most minor annoyances have been addressed. Ringtone still ringing while phone set to silent. Keyboard disappearing when typing. Phantom scrolling. SIM Card not inserted. There's times I can't even view my options menu! THE OPTIONS MENU! I click Options and it does NOTHING! I was lead to believe Batt Pulls was the answer to everything and if that doesn't work, search CB, they have the answer. Well, batt pull doesn't fix everything and while you and I have the same problem we don't have the same solution.
I'm currently running .75 for 3 reasons. 1.) Most stable 2.) I don't wanna risk stability for a faster accelerometer 3.) They're leaked for a reason.
"At your own risk" my a**. You're right though, cause if I have all these problems now and upgrade to even more problems (but faster accelerometer ), I'm going to be the first person on YouTube throwing the Blackberry Storm off a 4 story building. SHOW IT!
Listen, this is just my rant and my opinion. Blackberry Storm, great concept...poorly executed. I'm going to ride it under the assumption that RIM will pull it together within the next couple months and address these bugs. But you know what they say about when you assume things. I'm not asking for this to be the perfect phone...****, I'm not asking for them to fix everything in one shot. What I am asking for is for RIM to make this a RELIABLE phone. Right now, it is not!
