Rhapsody Sub. already and transfered songs...how?
- Title says it all. If you have already had Rhapsody Onthego subscription at the computer and transfered songs to BB storm and can play them, how did you do it?
Thanks a mil!11-21-08 03:40 PMLike 0 - I've been trying to get rhapsody tracks to work on the storm for hours now with little luck. At first it kept telling me to link to my PC to acquire licenses, even though I did link to the PC (that's how I transfered to the storm in the first place!). Then I tried deleting what I had transfered so I could try re-transfering, and one of the tracks wouldn't delete (error message said that the song was locked on the phone and had to be unlocked on the phone before deleted, but I had no idea how to do that). But then, magically, that one track ended up being able to play. So I figured I should be able to add more tracks and have them play, but whenever I added any other tracks, it would say there was an error and that it couldn't play. And eventually the whole device froze up on me and caused a reboot. After it rebooted, I was able to delete all the songs off and do a fresh transfer. But now when I transfer, it doesn't give me the "acquire license" message, but rather just says that the file type is not supported. Anyone know what happened? I prefered the "acquire license" message to this not supported crap.11-21-08 05:00 PMLike 0

- My Solution
1. Make sure phone is on and then plug into computer via USB.
2. My computer asked if I wanted windows to look for driver. I choose yes and it located one and then recognized device.
3. Powered up rhapsody and Blackberry showed up in list on left with music guide, library, and channels.
4. Have music in your mixer (list that creates as you play music)
5. Click the blackberry 9530 media card
6. drag music from mixer to the right and Walaaa!
Hope this helps!
*Make sure you have upgraded your rhapsody account to rhapsody ToGo. It cost $3.00 more than the standard Rhapsody subscription.*
Also, you can change the quality of the mp3 or wma. Make sure the device is plugged in and recognized my Rhapsody. Go into Tool-> Preferences -> Devices . Then click options. You can select from MP3, Mp3vbr (BB storm does list vbr as supported) and WMA. The highest Kbps the better, but over 192 is not really nec. Test and decide. More kbps means less room on your micro disk.
I posted this in my other thread "Music sound is horrendous". If you hear hissing in music (if you turn down volume all the way while music is playing you will know if this effects you)
***Solution for others with similiar problem until/if this is patched. Use a volume-attenuator adapter. This plugs into the connector for your plugs and then plugs into the phone. It came with my plugs luckily.***Last edited by nativebeez; 11-22-08 at 12:45 PM.
11-22-08 10:55 AMLike 0 - A custom equalizer with 6 to 8 adjustable levels would upgrade this device quite a bit. Throw us a bone in a coming patch RIM.11-23-08 12:55 PMLike 0
- an update on my situation for those interested: turns out that my storm's media player is having trouble playing not only the rhapsody subscription tracks, but also videos that I record using the storm's video camera as well as various other unprotected files. i called tech support and they had me do a total wipe of the blackberry, but even that did not solve the problem. they believe that when the OS crashed and my storm froze up, something must have been corrupted within the media player software. they say there is no way to fix this and so they are replacing my storm with a new storm free of charge. unfortunately I won't be receiving the new device until sometime around 12/15 because its on back order.
nativebeez, it sounds like you got the subscription music working on your storm. some of the tech reps told me the same thing that they told tahoerob, but other reps told me that the subscription tracks should work right now. one told me that i had to have the vcast version of rhapsody for it to work (not the regular rhapsody), but as far as i can tell, the software for the vcast verison and the regular version are exaclty the same except that one is verizon branded. the tech reps seem to be pretty confused as to how it all works themselves.
in any case, hopefully all my problems will be resolved when i get my replacement storm.11-23-08 09:55 PMLike 0 -
I'm 99.9% sure that the music was through the subscription - and not owned - I will try again (like when I'm awake) and confirm. I'm really going to like the Storm. This was one of the reasons I got it.
I just confirmed that it does work!Last edited by Philly-Sports; 11-24-08 at 08:25 AM. Reason: Confirmed
11-24-08 01:54 AMLike 0 - is rhapsody a pretty cool thing? i dont have it, since i have itunes...just wondering what you guys think11-24-08 02:03 AMLike 0

Rhapsody To Go is $14.95/mo You rent (or subscribe) to the music - you don't actually own it. I would rather have access to their library and not buy the music.
If you have any questions - I'll do my best to answer - but - I really like it.11-24-08 08:27 AMLike 0 - glad to hear that you got it working, philly-sports. annoyed that my storm's OS froze up the way it did and ended up corrupting the media player. but the fact that it works fine for you and nativebeez gives me hope that it will work fine with my replacement player.11-24-08 08:31 PMLike 0

- I have transfered rhapsody togo subscription music files. The major problem was getting my 9350 authorized, had to turn off mass media support to get the 9350 to be properly recognized. One recognized and authorized I have had NO problems getting any of the subscription music onto my storm. I have been using the verizon/rhapsody PC client to move the music. This is really a killer app. No need for itunes, CD, or buying music anymore. Between my sonos at home and my storm on the go I have more music than I know what to do with for the cost of a CD a month.11-30-08 08:46 PMLike 0
- Sooo, what happens to the music you have rented on your Storm if you don't renew the subscription? Can you still listen to the songs you have downloaded and transferred? Just curious.12-09-08 07:55 PMLike 0
- You can still listen to them for a certain amount of time...maybe a month. Then you have to reconnect to rhapsody to validate.12-10-08 04:53 PMLike 0
