I followed the steps all the way to the "USB-PIN:UNKNOWN" option. However, when I get to the next screen, its saying that "The Blackberry Desktop Software does not have Blackberry Device Software for the device that you have connected to the computer. Contact your wireless service provider or system administrator".
I downloaded the update, installed it, Desktop Manager automatically started, did the whole updating thing, then it said there was an error. The Desktop Manager said Disconnected, but I was too scared to unplug so I left it like that for 2 hours waiting to see if anything would happen. Nothing happened. It bricked. Like I said before I tried two different tricks to get it fixed, neither is working.
It just happened to me too, plug in it usb and use DM to update software. Then it will go to the no software screen and then you have to load software
The DM doesn't recognize my phone at all. The only way my phone is showing any life is when I do the App Loader waiting till it switches from COM3 to USB Port UNKNOWN thingy. but then it says there is nothing to load into the phone.
2. I called verzion today thinking I wasnt gonna be able to fix this, and they are shipping me a new phone on Dec 15th... I should still accept the new phone and return this phone that I just had all this happen to correct?
yep, did you back it up before? If you did then that's all you have to do
Side note: Thats why I use Gmail with Google Sync I can just load them from there.

2. DO NOT take the replacement if your phone works. It is your fault that you bricked it. It's easy to want a .75 update and yes hurting your phone seems virtually impossible, but don't hold the company accountable for something you know wasn't right. Also, don't take a phone that some other user might be able to purchase otherwise.
