For those who like to stay on official OSes, Telus has finally released OS 5.0.0.419 for the BlackBerry Storm 1.

You can download the installer file via the BlackBerry website at:

    https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...E607FE7CC0E1A0

Please note that if you already have OS 5.0.0.419 installed from Bell/MTS/Sasktel, there is no need to reload the OS. The OS version is exactly the same.

This post is for FYI purposes only for those who have yet to upgrade. If you need assistance with upgrading, feel free to post here or contact Telus support.

Agreed. It's just too bad that after all this time they didn't upgrade to a newer version.

Good find and thanks for reporting this,

but omg Telus... 419? Of the carriers that have the 9530, Telus is the one that wears the special helmet. lol

I guess I shouldn't be surprised since they release .442 for the 9700 while they were getting leaks in the upper .5xxs

I'm surprised they even made it to .419. Wasn't their official before that still 4.7.0.122?

Can't wait for the 9550 to get an update in a year and a half.

Chef_Garry was actually the user to spot it. I checked last night at midnight and it hadn't been posted yet. But I figured it would be good to post this here as well.

There is a thread a ways back. Here's a link:

I think there was likely another around that time, but searching for it isn't always as easy as you'd like.

I posted this around 7 hours ago in this thread:

    http://forums.crackberry.com/f132/wh...54/index8.html

    Iusacell is also on .419

Only VZW and one other S American carrier that is still on an old 4.7 are not on .419

I think a VZW update...it's been like 6 months now....is our best chance at getting something newer...

Wasn't part of the point of 5.0 to get all devices on more similar OS? Would be nice if carriers synced up their releases across devices since many bugs with certain builds are across platforms now .....

Yeah, I noticed your post a little while ago. I'd have to check who's post was first. .

Thanks for posting it as well blaised!

My main purpose in making the thread was to give it more attention for those who only install official OSes.

Speed dial worked fine for me. All you have to do is change the portrait keyboard type.

That is the package version. The application (OS) version is still 5.0.0.419. Its the exact same version as what's available for Bell and MTS.

you'd think after being 6 months late to the party, they could do better than 419... The only real issue I have with it is the auto-unlock doesn't work at all... but there are some way higher OS versions available for testing... such slackers

Telus still sells the S1 new... Oddly enough, the non contract price is higher than the S2

You can fix the black lines issue by going to Option > SMS Text and change the Conversation Style to Stripes rather than bubbles. The problem will then disappear (assuming you are referring to the appearance of black lines while scrolling through your texts).

Yes, that issue still exists, because this is still .419. It is the exact same as the leaked versions, and officials from every other carrier.
