    Hey guys,

I've been following all the hype for the last few weeks on here and other sites, realized this was the place to be so I thought I'd toss out a few questions and say cheers to one and all!

Anywho, I'm currently a Treo owner (don't bring out the lynch mob just yet!) and have had it for 3 years, I was a diehard fan of them, but they've not done a major upgrade since my phone (700wx) and instead are putting out phones with less and less functionality (centro? wtf?) Anyway, so I was at wit's end and have been looking over blackberry, honestly my biggest issue with them for awhile was not having a full HTML browser and not a touchscreen. Since storm has both of those thats why I'm getting pretty pumped.

So, now that I've rambled and half of you have left this post, heres a couple of questions:

    1) Will the new Storm's blackberry O/S support all old blackberry software / appz ? (I know there was a video of 3rd party software running, but didn't know if it was "select" or not - i.e. most current software will have to update and/or do drivers ?)

    2) The Developer network that comes out in Februaryish(?) (basically a response to iPhone's) is that basically software supported by Blackberry to download more appz and games directly from the phone instead of via computer? (yeah..this is one of those newb questions)

    3) I'm excited to use the Storm's ability to talk on the phone while still using the phone's other features (i.e. be on the internet) I'm a internet developer/broker who travels frequently and it sucks on the Treo to multi-task (plus the processor & O/S practically has a heart-attack). Does anyone know if the pressing down of the new style of the touchscreen makes noise though (either on purpose or not)? Because if I have a client on speakerphone and am "clicking" away to browse or something else, I don't want additional noise (I understand this could probably be eliminated with bluetooth, I was just curious)

    4) One of the "few" issues with the Treo (did I see that lynch mob again?) is pathetically poor bluetooth and was wondering what wireless headsets (both ears) people have used successfully in the past with the Blackberry? (looking at motorola's s60?)

    5) How well does Blackberry's ability to sync with the computer for backup of data / contacts, etc? (I've heard this is exceptional compared to ActiveSync for Treo)

    6) Just out of curiousity, are there any other Treo users who converted to the Blackberry religion and what pro / cons did you see? (if you can let me know which Treo you had that'd be SUPER also)

Thanks for all the help and reading about all the noob questions looks like a fun community that I hope to be a part of! Cheers!

    In response to your questions/concerns:
    1. Unlikely some apps will port fine although I believe some will not.
    2. Yep it is the called the BB app store.
    3. It does click some of the release videos you hear the click much like that of a mouse.
    4. I had a Treo and the BT sucked, My BB's BT is awesome.
    5. No comparision!!!!
    6. I had 2 treos the 700p and 755p which was immediately traded for a BB 8830 will never go back to treo.

Another point I have had winmo phones, palm phones and BB's all told the Blackberry's have always outperformed winmo and palm.

Hope it helps and welcome to the world of crackberry.

Rock on, appreciate the answers. I am looking forward to the BB o/s, I was never a fan of either winmo or palm. They both bit pretty hard.

Now I wish the bloody storm would get here so I can switch...

Yeah, I assumed as much, figured I'd block an evening or two to catch up.

Just out of curiosity, since the Storm can do modem tether does it come with software to do this? With the Treo I used a 3rd party called PDANet to connect to my laptop

I wonder if Verizon anticipates the increase on their 3G network with all the additional smartphones that use more and more data. I've heard rumors if you use the connection as a full internet connect (i.e. via your phone as a vessel) they get pissed (even if you're on an "unlimited" plan)

Oh yeah, browsing software, really need a strong FTP program and would like a strong (but simple) notepad/textpad program (for making the quick HTML/CSS update on the servers).

Pretty sure I'm going to be getting a 16gb SD card, one for video/audio and keep the 8gb for business backup.

I wonder how well the browser for the Storm will work or if I should lean towards a 3rd party? Plenty of questions which will probably be answered in the first few hours on the phone..lol

I think unlimited is limited to 5GB per month. The guy at the VZW store says he uses it as his primary internet access at home and uses around 4GB per month. He said that downloading a lot of video (sports, ?porn lol, etc) uses a lot of bytes.

I think it's the same as ATT. Full 3G / EVDO and you can have voice and data at the same time...
