My first experience with a blackberry was an OS in the 4.0's. I have updated several phones without issue but these have always been to new software in the 4.0 range.
I have been told that people who had BB's with an OS in the 3.0's could not upgrade to the 4.0's as it was a major release, not a service release.
I am not trying to start any rumors or stir up any problems. I am looking for someone who is in the know, or at least has a good idea. No BS please, if you have no clue then please don't post your "opinion".
When 5.0 finally comes out is it going to be the same as 3.0->4.0, as in those phones that were built for 4.0 will not be able to upgrade?
I ask because I was expecting a major OS change with the storm and found it was not much different than the pearl. My biggest fear [and it will probably come true] is that 5.0 will be released simultaneously with a new device, probably the next touch screen model and those of us with the storm will be left out to dry.
For those who have been around the blackberry block before with 3.0 & 4.0 what do you think will happen?
Incompatible = more money for rim haha. I would imagine anything after 8700 series will be fine but I don't see any reason why the bold/storm/new curve would 100% be able to.
