Question about RED LED notification for message
- The default setting for RED LED notification is when a new message is received, it will blink. My question is how can I set up my phone such that it will keep continue blinking until I read the message. Right now the blinking will stop after some time (~5 min?) even if I have NOT read the message.
Thanks.12-29-08 04:28 PMLike 0 - u have stared at your phone for 5 minutes watching a red light? i know they make medications for that. all jokes aside, I have noticed the same problem, i think that after a certain amount of time it blinks less and less. i have also noticed that my led does not always blink at the same intervals. haha...maybe there's a problem with the software...12-29-08 04:35 PMLike 0
- Get BB Alerts. Not free. But worth the $10 or so. Find it in the 3rd Party Apps sub forum in the OTA Apps sticky.
BB Alerts will let you customize the LED colors and timing of the blinking. For me, red is missed call, green is email, blue is SMS/MMS, white is PIN, yellow is calendar reminder. Mine will blink whichever colors necessary for those items every 5 seconds, each color blinking for a tenth of a second.12-29-08 04:41 PMLike 0 - there is nothing in the SW settings that allow me to do that? The BT blue LED keeps blinking whenever a BT headset is in sync with the phone. How come the phone can't do the same with the RED LED keep blinking until new message/SMS is read?
Is this a default feature? Or something I need to dig in? Does this happen to other BB as well (I am a newbie, this is my first BB)?
Thanks for all the answer.12-29-08 04:46 PMLike 0 - Turn off the alert status which shows when you are in signal area, when that is off my bold flashes constant until cleared with it on it only flashes red for 15 or so before clearing and going back to the standard in service notification.
Bbalerts also works very well but I took it all off in the end as I drive a lot and got cheesed off with the led flashing all the time specially at night.
Posted from my CrackBerry at wapforums.crackberry.com12-29-08 04:55 PMLike 0 - I have the same issue with my 8900. My service indicator light is off, but when I have messages/email/missed calls etc my red LED only flashes for about 15 minutes, then stops completely. I too would like it to remain on until I action it.
Just doing some digging about it now, but so far it looks like that's the standard. A few people (as AG/Tiny above) have said to get BBalerts and fully customize with different colours for different notifications....might give it a try I think!12-30-08 02:06 PMLike 0 -
RIM should allow infinite LED flashing until responded to. This is just rediculous to allow the indicator to expire after 15 minutes without purchasing 3rd party apps.01-01-09 09:30 AMLike 0 - This LED problem is consistent across multiple BB products. My wife's Curve does the same thing. However there are reports the Blackberry Alerts program is not compatible with the Storm. So what are we supposed to do?

I am constantly clicking the screen to check for messages, because you basically can not rely on the LED indicator, in case it timed out. It kind of defeats the whole idea of having the LED indicator to start with.01-01-09 10:35 AMLike 0
- lol. I'm glad I finally searched and found this thread.
I've been resending my service books daily, sometimes multiple times a day because I find there are messages in my inbox and no flashing red LED. I've been thinking there was something wrong!
I also agree, that there should be a user setting to have the LED notification flash till action is taken.01-14-09 11:33 PMLike 0 - OK, I have a Storm and my LED blinks red till I act upon it! I have no BB Alerts nor custom settings! I'm running .85, however it did this in .75 as well.01-14-09 11:39 PMLike 0

As far as LED customization, I asked about that and they weren't aware of any updates to address that.01-15-09 06:19 AMLike 0 - Is there a free application like BB alerts that allows you to change things like the LED color? Could someone attempt to make one that changes the LED color?02-09-09 10:22 AMLike 0
