my writing this for someone. he has a blackberry 8830 world edition with sprint. one of his coworkers had the storm 9530 on verizon. since the 9530 uses a sim, he tried placing his 8830 sim into the 9530, but the 9530 would not read the sim. is there any way for him to use the 9530 on the sprint network? or unlock the 8830 sim to work on the 9530. if it is possible, he wants to buy it without a contract and use it on sprint.

(sorry if this is a repost, i tried searching but couldn't find anything)

No he cannot use the 9530 on Sprint. If he switched carriers to say AT&T or T-Mobile he could but not Sprint.

By 2010 (since its been pushed back as far as i know) CDMA devices will have to be supported on opposing CDMA networks. So eventually yes it will work, but as of right now its not likely to happen.

Sprint CS is horrible anyway. I fired them after 7 yrs and moved to Verizon, the best CS experience ever!! Or I guess Sprint was just that bad? lol
