So what does everyone think? I would really like to see a push to talk app for the storm to come out.

Now I know there is Instango and Palringo that claim to have ptt. But these both require you to be in active program screen and in a IM conversation with someone, not to mention the voice messaging is very slow and spotty.

I also know HipVoice is coming out with a PTT solution that is really heading in the right direction, my only issue is its $10 a month. I dont really have a problem paying that, but it will be hard to convince all my friends to pay for that every month since I am a poor college student.

So here's what I'm thinking, wouldn't it be great to see a PTT app that:
    1) runs in the background and automatically plays messages when they come in

    2) allows me to highlight a contact and press a side key to record and send a PTT message

    3) free (I know this is a stretch but there are a lot of free complicated apps that send streaming audio/video information right now. Maybe Advertisment could help)

    What does everyone think?

True, just wondering if everyone thinks this would be possible or not.

EDIT: Think I should move this to 3rd Party Apps http://forums.crackberry.com/f134/ptt-storm-162364/ Go there

I think ptt uses an iDEN radio, as opposed to CDMA, so true ptt like the Curve 8350i is impossible on the Storm.

Nope. Kinda explained above as to why.... Hardware would have to be there to connect to Nextel

If you use visual voice mail you can kind of ptt with leaving voice messages directly. I think that's the closest you will get.

When the 8830 came out it was compatible with PTT, I had it for a while until I left that company. I don't see why it couldn't be added to the 9530.
